The Society of Operations Engineers (Hong Kong Region)
Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks, and congratulations to the SOEHK Region for her 17th Anniversary.
It is really a difficult year in 2020, having the spread of COVID-19 worldwide, numerous organizations including learning societies have been taking necessary steps included having all events suspended and escalating health and safety arrangements. Fortunately, no matter how hard it was, gathered with our positive effort we find solutions such as online based platform for meetings, live events, technical discussions, etc.; also gathered Hong Kong people’s discipline, we can join here to celebrate the long waited annual dinner.
This year is the transition from my Chairmanship to Presidentship of the Society. I am truly appreciated the trust and support from the Executive Committee, the Society of Hong Kong Region and UK Headquarter. They also rendered me to have served the organization, the society as well as the industry in the past years’ engagement with SOEHK Region.
It was really an invaluable experience other than my career experience in the utility industry. I must convey my gratitude to the committee members of the Hong Kong sector. Over the past years our committee members had enabled flexible, diverse, communities to help our members to share, network and engage with one another; provided technically vital forum for the discussion, development, and dissemination of authoritative knowledge; offered CPD activities to our members to facilitate the life-long learning, and giving such platforms for knowledge sharing; worked closely with IRTE professional sector; and last but not least, kept the momentum growth of SOEHK membership.
The SOEHK Region was established on 8th August 2003, and the Region’s aims are “To promote safe, efficient, innovation and environmentally sustainable operations engineering to the benefit of society and to enhance collaboration with other institutions and professional bodies in Hong Kong and Mainland China”.
“I treasure the hard works that our former Presidents and Chairmen contributed to SOEHK” as recalled from my closing speech in 15th Anniversary. During this difficult time in 2020, the 17th Anniversary ascertained again the SOEHK Region had grown up and successfully developed to provide different platforms including online such as seminar, symposium, industrial visit and social gathering, etc. for engineers from different disciplines to share, exchange and learn from each other.
In the beginning of my Presidentship 2020-2022, I would like to take this great opportunity to express my congratulations to SOEHK and its Committee for the “Good New Start”. I also like to express my gratitude to all of you, our supporters, for your continued support, belief, commitment and dedication to society services.
I look forward to seeing the continuous growth of SOEHK Region and wish all of you every success in the years to come. Enjoy and cheers!
